Blues Up and Down

This week I’ve been really enjoying Reminiscent, the most recent album from tenor saxophonist Dayna Stephens.  “Blues Up and Down” is a cool throwback to the old two-sax “battle” records, specifically the version of this tune Gene Ammons and Sonny Stitt recorded in 1961.  Throughout the record, though, Dayna and Walter Smith III are more complementary partners than rivals.
